A health plan third party administrator (TPA) handles the day-to-day running of a health plan that an employer, union or other group pays for itself: it processes claims, keeps eligibility records and answers members' questions, while the group carries the cost of care. As of , this directory lists 266 health plan TPAs, with at least one based, serving or licensed in each of 47 states, and 18 that say they serve every state.
